I have been fortunate enough to have had several massages from Mandy Bates. I was sad when she moved from Connecticut and she could no longer be my massage therapist. She really listens to your needs and concerns and treats you appropriately. She is very knowledgeable and is able to relieve pain and stress, while being a calming presence and always professional. It has been hard to find anyone of her caliber. I highly recommend her if you are in Vermont. You will be treated with caring hands.

I have been fortunate enough to have massage therapy from the beginning of Mandy’s career as a massage therapist. I always feel relaxed and relieved of my discomfort when she works on my shoulder. She takes her time and is always focused on the areas that need the most attention. I look forward to making a trip to her new practice in Vermont.

As one who has enjoyed massages for decades (multiple back issues, thus I have formally reviewed numerous student massages for a professional school in our region), my first massage with Mandy was terrific. I tend to want massages from folks who have that fine balance between strength, gentleness, and endurance. Like Goldilocks might put it, "not too hard, not too soft- just right!". Mandy definitely has this and gets that (along with good ebb and flow throughout). Near the end of my massage, I was even surprised to hear a snore emanate from me--I generally do not fall asleep during a massage. I was not out, but must have been very relaxed. She spent enough time on all areas, and noticed and focused in on places I commonly hold tension, or which need stretching. She gave me good recommendations for dealing with those later, and was overall highly professional yet relaxed and genuine. She clearly loves what she does, and is well beyond novice level. I'll be back! Oh, and she welcomed feedback at any time, had appropriate intake questions about pre-existing issues, and was quiet unless needing me to move or confirm my comfort with settings once we started. Last, there was a gently heated pad (I'm thin, so that helped), the table was robust, music was pleasant and low, space was inviting, and I found the location fairly easily on my first visit. Thanks again Mandy, we are fortunate to have you in our area now. Albany's School of Natural Wellness and Massage Therapy (which is also outstanding, BTW) might miss my reviews, but I won't miss the commute!
